IP QUILL!

Hi Law Students!

Welcome to IP QUILL, an exciting initiative by Synectic Legal. As someone who has been a student all my life, I understand the intimidation, the confusion of where to begin and how to navigate your path. That’s why I’m passionate about creating this platform to help you ease into the world of IP law and shape your future as a legal professional.

Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who have played a pivotal role in guiding me, nurturing my growth, and helping me overcome challenges. Inspired by their support, I want to offer a starting point to that same mentorship through IP QUILL. This initiative is not only a space to explore topics like art, entertainment, music, technology, fashion, and IP law, but also a platform that fosters growth and skill-building in legal writing. If you’re new to legal writing, IP QUILL provides a supportive space for students to dive into the field of intellectual property, and stay updated on current developments.

This initiative is built for students looking to gain hands-on writing experience and boost their confidence in legal research and communication—no previous writing experience required! Start with bite-sized articles, develop your skills, and gain practical experience that will support your academic and professional journey.

I believe that mentorship can have a transformative impact, and through this platform, I hope to create a lasting, positive difference in the lives of students, just as my mentors continue to do for me.

Guidelines for Writing Your Article for IP QUILL

  1. Choose Your Topic: Select a topic within intellectual property law that interests you. It can relate to art, entertainment, music, technology, or any aspect of IP law. Make sure it’s relevant and current.
  2. Length: Articles should be 2 pages (approximately 800-1000 words). This is ideal for focused, engaging content.
  3. Originality: Your article must be 100% original. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Any ideas, quotes, or information that are not your own should be properly attributed.
  4. References: Instead of detailed citation styles, simply include a list of references at the end of your article. This should include any sources you used to inform your writing (e.g., articles, books, case laws, etc.). No need for formal citation styles—just mention the source clearly. (I understand that starting to write can be intimidating because of citations, so we want to ease it in for beginners)
  5. Clarity & Structure: Write in a clear, concise manner. Your article should be easy to follow with logical flow, and your ideas should be well-supported by your research.
  6. No Self-Plagiarism: Your article should be new and not previously submitted or published elsewhere.
  7. Proofreading: Before submitting, thoroughly proofread your article for grammar, spelling, and overall clarity. Ensure that your article reads well and conveys your ideas effectively.
  8. Professional Tone: Maintain a professional and respectful tone throughout your writing. Remember, this is an academic and professional platform.
  9. Provide accurate details: When you send me your submission, ensure that you provide the following details: Name, Year of law school, Qualifications, Name of the law school, and a good professional photograph of yours that you’d wish to have published with your name on the blog.
  10. AI Policy: Use of AI is not permitted for writing your paper. The article has to be written by the author without the intervention of any softwares using AI.
  11. Final selection: After submission, we will review the article and inform you within two weeks of your submission, if your article is selected to be published. We shall send you the link to your published article.
